As Albert navigates his relationships and confronts his own inadequacies, he must also contend with the various dangers of the Wild West, including outlaws, Native American attacks, and diseases. The film's title, "A Million Ways to Die in the West," refers to the numerous ways that Albert and his friends can die in the harsh and unpredictable environment of the American frontier.

One day, a mysterious woman named Anna (played by Charlize Theron) arrives in town, and Albert becomes infatuated with her. However, their budding relationship is threatened by the presence of a ruthless outlaw, Foy (played by Liam Neeson), who is also after Anna.
